Google Business Profile checkup

Does your business listing say what you think it does?

A customer sees your hours, photos and reviews before you ever meet. Take a fresh look at what your listing tells them—and how easy it is to visit, call or ask a question.

Free checklist. No purchase or account required.

Think like the person searching

Three questions your listing should answer.

01 / Visit

Can I go there?

Make hours, location, entrance and appointment requirements clear. If you travel to customers, accurately describe your service area instead.

02 / Call

Can someone help me?

Test the number on a phone. Check who answers, what happens after hours and how missed calls get a response.

03 / Inquire

What happens next?

Send a test inquiry. Confirm the right person receives it and the customer knows when to expect a reply.

Your 10-point checkup

Open the public listing. Check what is actually there.

Search for your business on Google Search and Maps. Inspect the customer-facing result as well as your management dashboard. Mark an item only after checking it; for a feature that does not apply, verify that it is not misleadingly displayed.

This is a manual checklist, not an automated audit or ranking score. Progress is saved only in this browser when storage is available. No Google connection or customer information is collected here.

Fix the customer experience first

Start with the mistake that could lose the next visit.

First / Accuracy

Prevent wasted trips.

Correct hours, phone, location and broken links. Use the real business name; keep extra search keywords out of it. Make holiday hours and appointment requirements clear.

Next / Clarity

Show what you actually do.

Review categories, services, description and current photos. Keep claims specific and true. Use the appropriate offer or post feature for promotions rather than filling the business description with sales language.

Then / Consistency

Keep it maintained.

Request honest reviews without incentives or screening for happy customers. Reply professionally, publish useful updates and revisit details when operations change.

Google says local results depend on relevance, distance and prominence. No software can buy or guarantee a top position. Adding posts alone is not proof of a ranking improvement.

Different businesses. Same customer questions.

Make the listing fit the way you serve people.

Independent car dealers

Use current lot and entrance photos, accurate sales hours and a working inventory link. Make the visit and availability-check process clear. Describe financing options accurately; do not imply every shopper qualifies.

Home service businesses

List real services and the areas you actually serve. If customers do not visit your address, follow Google’s service-area rules. Help people understand the estimate process and how to reach your team.

Shops and restaurants

Check special hours, parking or entrance details, and the menu, ordering or product links available for your category. Remove outdated information that could make someone choose another stop.

Appointment-based businesses

Test the booking or tour-request path, explain whether walk-ins are welcome, and use photos that reflect the current customer experience. Check who receives each request.

When upkeep becomes a recurring job

A tool can help you keep track.

You can manage your Google Business Profile directly without buying a separate tool. Localo is an optional way to organize ongoing visibility work, especially when you want a clearer action plan or manage several profiles.

Measure what matters

Visibility is the beginning. Customers are the goal.

1. Actual visits

Track walk-ins, kept appointments or completed estimates. Ask how people found you and record the answer consistently. Direction requests are a useful signal, not confirmed visits.

2. Useful calls

Review answered and missed calls, qualified conversations and appointments set. A click on a phone button does not establish that the call connected.

3. Qualified inquiries

Track relevant forms or messages, response time and the next action. Keep spam and duplicate inquiries separate from real opportunities.

Record a baseline before changes, keep dates and definitions consistent, and allow time to observe results. Seasonality, inventory, offers and other marketing can affect outcomes; a before-and-after comparison alone does not prove what caused a change.

Common questions

Before you change anything.

Do I need Localo to fix my listing?

No. Start with the free Google Business Profile tools. Consider paid software when its monitoring, recommendations or time savings solve a recurring problem.

Why can’t I find my business everywhere nearby?

Results vary with the search, the searcher’s location and other ranking factors. A single search on your own phone is not a complete view of local visibility.

What if my profile is unverified or suspended?

Use Google’s official verification or appeal process first. A third-party tool cannot guarantee reinstatement or bypass Google’s requirements.

Should I display my home address?

If customers do not visit you there, review Google’s service-area guidance and hide the address as required. Do not add a virtual office or invented location to reach another town.

Want a second look?

Send Anthony your public listing link and the one thing you want to improve: visits, calls or inquiries. Please leave out customer records and private account details.
